Bitter Chocolate Hazelnut Cake! And, my first venture into yoga.

After my first son was born, nearly three and a half years ago, I bought a yoga mat and a pilates DVD. They both stayed in the packaging.

Exercise and I have always had a baaad relationship. I have a terrible fear of exercise, and when I have attempted it, tend to pass out from low blood sugar. My level of (un)fitness is often a surprise to others, because I am petite and have oddly muscly legs. People sometimes mistake me for a very short runner. I recently discussed my concern that the language we use in relation to particular diets (vegan, gluten-free, paleo, sugar-free etc) may contribute to furthering the stigma against those diets, because they focus on which foods are absent, rather than which delicious ingredients are included.

This 5-minute chocolate mug cake from An Edible Mosaic proves my point.

These bliss balls are my adaptation of the yummy Peanut Butter Balls developed by One Handed Cooks. My three-year-old son says they’re (del)’icious’! They pack a healthy-ish chocolate and berry hit. They also happen to be gluten-free and dairy-free (and I still love them!). Continue reading
